  • Philippa Scott

    TREASURER

Philippa Scott, a mother of four daughters, isn't just passionate about consumer rights – she's a driving force for better birthing experiences. A personal turning point in 2003, after her first birth's challenges due to fragmented care and limited information, ignited her activism.

Fueled by her desire to empower others, Philippa trained first as a Doula and launched "Friends of the Birth Centre Townsville" (FBCT) in 2003. Her dedication as president until 2011 culminated in the successful opening of the Townsville Birth Centre in 2008, a 3-room facility within the Townsville Hospital.

Beyond leading FBCT, Philippa actively participated in consumer and citizen boards, created media projects, and facilitated free support groups. She embraced homebirths for last two daughters. Witnessing her granddaughter's recent home birth solidified her mission, driven by the desire for better birthing experiences, not just for her daughters but for all.

Philippa's advocacy continues to flourish. She champions improvements at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital birth centre, contributes to the annual Homebirth conference (2024 & 2025), and serves as Treasurer for Home Birth QLD since 2023. Through "Fantastic Futures," she empowers parents to heal from birth and perinatal trauma, rewriting the unconscious scripts they pass on.

I’m a Doula who is extremely passionate about supporting women in pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

I draw on traditional and holistic practices to support women throughout these sacred rites of passage to ensure that they feel powerful, safe and respected.

I have always been supportive of women’s choices to birth wherever they wish however, after birthing my son at home I felt a surge of passion and drive to ensure that homebirth is a viable option for any woman that wishes to have a homebirth.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of homebirth Queensland and all of the incredible work this organisation does.

  • Bridget Wilson

    MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY

I’m a trauma-informed doula and birth debriefing practitioner, deeply passionate about homebirth and supporting women to feel informed, held, and empowered in their choices.

When I was giving birth to my own children, access to homebirth in my region was extremely limited, which sparked a deep commitment to helping make homebirth more accessible and supported for families across Queensland.

As Membership Secretary, I’m honoured to support the Homebirth Queensland community and its important work.

    WEBSITE COORDINATOR

I am passionate about women having the support and information they need to make the right birthing choices for their family. Since becoming a mother, this has only deepened, and I feel strongly connected to the importance of respectful care and informed decision-making throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
