The Journey of a Global Midwife
Documentary screenings across Queensland
HBQ is excited to share upcoming Queensland screenings of Allowed to Birth: The Journey of a Global Midwife, a new documentary exploring physiological birth, maternity care and the importance of dignity, autonomy and informed choice in birth.
Following the life and work of midwife and educator Kristine Lauria, the film brings together stories and perspectives from around the world to explore the increasing medicalisation of birth and the movement towards respectful, woman-centred care.
HBQ has emailed HBQ members with a discount code for discounted tickets. Discount does not apply to the Townsville screening.

HBQ Annual General Meeting
Join us for the Homebirth Queensland Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 25 November 2026 at 10:30 am in Annerley.
The AGM is an opportunity to connect with the HBQ community, hear about what’s happening within the organisation, and take part in the election of committee positions.
Interested in getting involved? We would love to welcome new volunteers and committee members. If you’d like to learn more before the AGM, you’re welcome to join one of our monthly online meetings to meet the team and get a feel for what happens behind the scenes.
