Hi, my name is Tanya, founder of Our Midwife, offering continuity of midwifery care for women in their pregnancy, birth, and postnatal journey, including homebirth. Our Midwife services women within a 35km radius from Atherton. This can be extended to a 100km radius depending on caseload & distance from the nearest hospital. Travel costs are additional.
I was born to midwifery and motherhood simultaneously at the turn of the century, 1999. What amazing parallel journeys to travel! I have been working with families in Far North Queensland for two decades plus. I can’t deny the influence that my personal journey through pregnancy, birth and motherhood has had on my growth as a midwife.
The opportunity to birth my five children at home, in water, with the support of a midwife, has inspired & given rise to Our Midwife. This is where my passion for midwifery philosophy arose. I was supported in achieving uninterrupted, non-medicalised, instinctive, exhilarating, & empowering childbirth.
Our Midwife prioritises working collaboratively and synergistically with other midwives & health carers to provide holistic care for women and their families. Care is guided by the woman’s right to self-determination and choice, whilst encompassing the unique needs of her family, her baby and her community.
