About the role
As a circle facilitator your responsibility is to create and hold a welcoming, safe, respectful and thought-provoking environment for women and families.
Our circles are held in-person, and are an opportunity for people to socialise, support, talk, listen and share wisdom.
Requirements
Current HBQ member prior to application
Based in Queensland
Access to phone, email and internet
Attend at least six HBQ General Meetings (held online) each year
Strong communication skills
A passion for homebirth
Ability to work independently and in a team
Understanding that this role represents HBQ and is centred on community, connection and support. It is not intended as a platform for business promotion or self-marketing
Key responsibilities
Arrive 15 minutes early to set up and welcome early arrivals
Manage the sign-in process and ensure attendees are signed in
Hold the space by modelling respectful listening and stepping in only when necessary
Share the purpose and objectives of HBQ
Encourage non-members to learn more about joining HBQ
Leave the venue neat and tidy at the end of each circle
Promote the circle in your local community
Raise concerns, feedback and suggestions with the committee
Time commitment
The role is approximately 6–8 hours per month.
Collaboration
You will work alongside a co-facilitator and report to the HBQ Convenor.
Onboarding
Training will be provided on emotional safety, inclusivity, and supporting people through heavy moments.
